Meet our President

Gervonder Brown

Hello SCAEOP family! I am so excited about this opportunity to lead the South Carolina Association of Educational Office Professionals as the 42nd President. I understand the power of words so I was prayerful and mindful of what I wanted to see happen for the association. My theme, “Purposed by Design: Cultivate. Innovate. Excel.,” simply means it is my objective, my intention, my resolve, as a result of a plan, wise counsel and TEAMwork to accomplish the following:

  • Cultivate (to acquire or develop a quality, sentiment, or skill, to apply oneself to improving or developing one's mind or manners)

    • Changing/Creating a Culture of Excellence (Chic Fil A Customer Service) - We are Directors of First Impression

    • Bridging the Gap: Old School vs New School (Mentoring Matters)

    • More Professional and Leadership Development opportunities

    • Growing and establishing affiliates

    • Standard presentation for membership recruitment

  • Innovate (to introduce changes and new ideas in the way something is done or made)

    • Creating Systems (to allow transitions between Boards to be easier)

    • SCAEOP website (updated and user friendly)

    • Social Media presence to increase visibility

    • Mid Year Conference

    • Annual Conference (tiered professional development opportunities)

  • Excel (be exceptionally good at or proficient in an activity or subject, to go or be beyond a stated or implied limit, measure, or degree)

    • More membership recognition and celebrations

    • Increased overall association membership (renewal dates and reminders)

    • Communication streamlined

    • Endorsements and Sponsorships

    • Next Year’s Conference: Early Bird - Regular Registrations- Deadlines; Hotel (Register for conference first, then book hotel)

SCAEOP-R

We never get too old to learn. Our logo is "Retired . . . but still inspired." The SCAEOP-Retired organization was officially established in 1994. Prior to that year, we were a retiree group with SCAEOP.  In order to make the membership attractive to retirees, a SCAEOP-R request to the Executive Board was approved for a reduced state conference registration fee enabling retirees to attend each annual conference. In addition, we were granted to have a SCAEOP-R liaison on the Executive Board.
